Numerology Calculator
Calculate your Life Path from your birth date and, with your full birth name, your Expression, Soul Urge and Personality numbers, plus the personal year you are living now.
What your Life Path number means
Your Life Path is the most widely used number in numerology. It comes from your full date of birth and describes the main road your life tends to travel: the lessons you keep meeting, the strengths you grow into, and the kind of work that feels meaningful to you.
Numerology is a symbolic system, not a science. Like astrology, it gives you a vocabulary for reflection. Your Life Path does not decide anything for you, but it can offer a useful lens on patterns you already recognize.
How the Life Path is calculated
This calculator reduces the month, the day and the year of your birth separately, then adds the three results and reduces once more. To reduce means adding the digits of a number together until you reach a single digit.
Take someone born on February 4, 1985. The month is 2 and the day is 4. The year becomes 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 23, and then 2 + 3 = 5. Adding 2 + 4 + 5 gives 11. Because 11 is a master number, it stays 11 instead of being reduced to 2.
Some numerologists add every digit of the date in one long line. That shortcut usually gives the same single digit, but it can hide a master number. Reducing each part first is the convention used here.
Master numbers 11, 22 and 33
Master numbers are double digits that numerology traditionally leaves unreduced. On this site, your Life Path, Expression, Soul Urge and Personality keep 11, 22 or 33 when they appear. Your personal year, month and day always reduce to a number from 1 to 9.
A master number carries the themes of its root number in a stronger form. An 11 shares the sensitivity of a 2 with an added pull toward insight. A 22 shares the practical builder of a 4 on a larger scale. A 33 shares the care of a 6 with a teaching quality. They are not better numbers, just more intense ones.
Your name numbers and your personal year
Add your full birth name to see three more numbers. Every letter has a value from 1 to 9. Your Expression adds all the letters and describes your natural talents. Your Soul Urge uses only the vowels (A, E, I, O and U) and points to what you want most deeply. Your Personality uses the consonants and describes the first impression you give.
Your personal year combines your birth month and day with the current calendar year. It moves through a nine-year cycle, from fresh starts in a 1 year to closing chapters in a 9 year, and gives you a theme for the months ahead.
Questions
Which name should I use?
Traditional numerology uses the full name on your birth certificate, including middle names. You can also try a married name or the name you use every day to compare how each one reads.
Can my Life Path number change?
No. It comes from your date of birth, so it stays the same for life. Your personal year, month and day are the numbers that change.
Is numerology the same as astrology?
No. They are separate traditions with different methods. If you want to see what your birth chart says, you can get a free birth chart reading on this site and compare the themes side by side.
Can numerology predict my future?
No. It describes tendencies and themes for reflection. Your choices, circumstances and effort shape what actually happens.
Why does another calculator give me a different Life Path?
Usually because it adds the digits in a different order or reduces master numbers. If one result is 11 and another is 2, both describe the same root theme, and this page keeps the master number.
